Here's A Rendering of The New Library We're Working to Build.
The plan calls for a 13,000 square foot library with bookshelves, of course, a community room, a teen room, a children's story time area, an adult room and an outdoor courtyard. All to offer meaningful access to collections and resources such as reading and study space, meeting rooms, and computers.
Focus on the Cornerstone Program
We're Looking for 50 New Participants.
Every Cornerstone Donor will be recognized on a Donor Wall in the new library.
It couldn't be simpler to demonstrate your support for our new library in a very big way. For a small monthly amount ($25) over 40 months, you can donate $1000 to support the building and do even more for the fundraising. Of course, you can pay the entire amount at once, and there are additional options.
The end of the year is coming up, and for retirees and small businesses, there are tax advantages to charitable donations. Your Minimum Distribution could be donated, and then it's not taxable. Check it out. If you file a Schedule C you can still deduct donations made by your business. Think about directing those funds to the Cornerstone!
We're applying for some large grants that would cover millions (yes, millions!) of dollars of the building cost. Community support is a big factor in the consideration for grants of this size. Next Library Friends Meeting: 6:00PM Tuesday, September 24. We'll be at the Community Center, construction not yet started.
All are welcome to attend. We'll put you to work! New members, be sure to come and introduce yourselves.
And In October, we will see you at Get To Gather Farms on October 19 for an Adult evening with a Pumpkin Trebuchet, great food, music, Dancing, All the Halloween Stuff!

The Art Show was August 10, 2024 at Reflection Plaza Downtown Washougal. The Friends of the Washougal Library were there in force, as were the artists who generously gave their time and talents to support the Library Building Fund.
Our Volunteers are modeling some new T-Shirts, with our new slogan: Washougal. My Town, My Library. We'll let you know when you can get a T-Shirt of your own. We have a few paintings left, come in to the library for a mini-gallery sale. |
Book Sale

Here we were ready to go at the Outpost. We had a wonderful crew of volunteers and a great location for our Summer Sale.
I think you'll agree this was an epic event.

.A Great Time was had by All at the 2023 Washougal Christmas Parade. Friends decorated our beautiful float, handed out bookmarks and had general hilarity. If you're curious, we did get cookies. Hope to see more friends next year.

Halloween Action at the Library
The Small but Mighty Washougal Library hosted Pumpkin carving classes, and featured Washougal Library-Grown Pumpkins. Here are some results. On Halloween, The Library hosted Hundreds, yes, Hundreds of families for a downtown Washougal Trick or Treat Night. There were amazing creative costumes worn by kids and parents alike. |
